Sakamoto Playlist Available from BBC Radio 1

Every year a key figure from a variety of fields is asked to curate a show for Mary Anne Hobbs’ groundbreaking experimental show on BBC Radio 1. This year Ryuichi Sakamoto answered the call, and the results are available to be streamed at Mary Anne’s site which can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/maryannehobbs

Inspired by Sakamoto’s music selection, Mary Anne took things a step further, and created an entirely beatless, ambient special.

Previous contributors to the program included cultural figures who work in visual mediums, such as Sophia Coppola and Matt Groening, as well as important musical icons, such as Bjork and Grandmaster Flash.
